Our Story

It all goes back to John Cheetham, our third great-grandfather, who ran a hatting emporium in Hyde, Greater Manchester, where he crafted beautiful headwear for customers around the world. Cheetham's Hats thrived until the 1950s, bowing out as hat culture faded. But don't fret if that connection feels a bit far-flung; we're just as proud of the more recent chapters in our history.

1999

Fast-forward to 1999, when the Cheethams made their return. Our co-founder, Jenny, fresh out of university and full of vision, launched Equine Innovations, producing horse rugs and clothing for riders. With a sharp eye for quality and a passion for equestrian style, she set the groundwork for what would follow.

2006

As Equine Innovations grew, so did our understanding of the clientele - those drawn to the country lifestyle, eager for attire that matched their love of the outdoors. Jenny, her husband Richard, and her brother Andrew saw an opportunity and seized it, giving life to Country Attire, a brand that rapidly drew in premium labels and a growing audience.

2018

In the twelve years that followed, Country Attire became more than a business; it became a family and a benchmark for premium fashion. It fostered a sense of community and excellence, creating a legacy that left an undeniable mark on customers and the industry alike.

2024

And here we are. Hopefully it now makes sense if we seem a little familiar. We've been steadily building British Attire, our latest and most refined venture yet. It's a true testament to British style and spirit, and we're only getting started.
